Interview DJ Pi by Moonface:
DJ Pi is the spiritual father of the "Trance Empire compilations"
His website has been created to give people a chance to discover his mixes;
visitors will find a lot of great stuff regarding the "Trance Empire compilations"
such as downloads, a forum and introductions on other DJ's, links, etc.
Moonface: So DJ Pi, who are you ?
DJ Pi: I'm europeen and i'm 35 years old. It all started with Techno in 1993
and since then i've been mixing for 11 years now.
Moonface: So which style do you prefer the most?
DJ Pi: Trance , trance and ..... Trance !! there is no discussion about that!
and preferable the "Non-Vocal Trance". To me, the melody plays the most
important part in that style of music
Moonface: And what about other styles?
DJ Pi: I like "Hardstyle" too ,because
of its emphasis on the "beats
Moonface: So what about Techno Parties?
Which ones did you attend to in the past?
DJ Pi: I've been enjoying a lot of the big Rave Parties in Switzerland... in
1994, I discovered ENERGY in Zurich, after that EVOLUTION, MAGIC KINGDOM ...etc..,
SVEN VATH in a swimming pool in german (wonderfull ) and of course the great
nights i spent in some German Clubs.
Moonface: So, which DJs really did blow your mind?
DJ Pi: Taucher, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Snowman, Dream, Phrenetic and DJ
Dean ..etc..
Moonface: So how do you proceed when creating a mix?
DJ Pi: Most of the time, i work alone, but some of the mixes were created with
the aid of DJ Daemonjail, We used to play together in a French club..
Moonface: So how do you rate your own compilations?
DJ Pi: In september 2003, i started the "Trance Empire" series, and
i've been mixing one compilation a month ever since. Last december, i also
created a Hard Style compilation called "Hardstyle Empire" which runs
simultaneously with the "Trance Empire" series. Both mixes contain
my most favoured tracks which have been released during a given month, I always
mix the most recent tracks...
Moonface: Will people find all your mixes on this site?
DJ Pi: YES! The objective is to share these mixes with the biggest amount of
people who share the same kinda musical taste, this by allowing them to download
the mixes directly from this site ..
Moonface: How about other projects ?
DJ Pi: I'll continue to release 1 "Trance Empire" a month, online and
available for download on the web. The objective of this site is to let people
discover my mixes and also let them discover other DJ's like DaemonJail whose
mixes are real close to mine (same style) and who's also one of the DJ's which
helped in creating the Trancelab series and DJ SHY will come too.
Moonface: Perhaps a last question? Will people be able to subscribe on the site?
DJ Pi: Yes they will have this possibility by using the forum.
